We need you in the music department!
As we turn the calendar to October and the autumn season, the days are getting shorter and the air a bit cooler. Maybe you are settling into the routine of the school year, the beginning of the fourth quarter at work, or starting to think about the wonderful holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas yet to come. As you get into these fall routines, would you consider participating in the music program of our church?
The first way to take part is by singing in the choir. While we have had several new members join us, we always need more folks. With more people joining, there are more singers around you to help you learn the music and blend together in a wonderful symphony of voices. With more people, no one must stand on their own or sing their part alone.
While we would love to have you every Sunday you are in town, you do not have to commit to every Sunday. We know that many people like to volunteer in a variety of ways. If you are already (or are interested in) serving as an acolyte, usher or greeter but are also interested in choir, you are always welcome to sing with us on the Sundays that you are not serving in another capacity. The music is always distributed by email in advance, so even if you are not there to rehearse the Sunday before, you will have the opportunity to see the music before Sunday morning.
We are continuing to rehearse on Sunday mornings in the music room at 9:00 AM. Please plan to join us whenever you can. If you are unsure, you are heartily welcome to try us out for a Sunday or two as well. We think you will like it!
If you aren’t a singer, but maybe play an instrument, we would love to welcome you to worship leadership as well. We are looking for instrumentalists to play in worship, particularly for preludes, but also with the choir on occasion. A solo instrument, perhaps accompanied by organ or piano, is a wonderful meditative way to begin worship as people quietly prepare for the worship service on Sunday mornings. We can find music for you to play, or you are welcome to play pieces that you already know. Even if you have not played in a while, dusting off the instrument to play in church would be welcomed by everyone in the parish!
If you would like to either play your instrument in our liturgies or would like to sing in the choir, please reach out to Justin Smith at [email protected] or look for him at coffee hour after the 10:15 service. New choir members are also always welcome to show up on any Sunday morning at 9:00 AM in the music room as well.
If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Justin Smith at [email protected].
