Final Day

Posted on Apr 30, 2009

Over the course of this week we have had a chance to tour schools, churches, and medical clinics.  We have meet numerous clergy and faithful parishioners.  On our visits our communication officer asked us to take lots of pictures as well as film some of our visit.  I was in charge of the filming which was a lot of fun.  As our week has come to an end I decided to ask and film each person answering this question "what would be three words you would use to describe your experience in the Dominican Republic?"  It was easy for me to ask the question but now it is my turn to answer the question.  With the week still fresh in my mind I have come to the conclusion that my DR experience would be characterized with the words inspiring, grasping, and potential.  To learn more about how these words apply to my experience in the DR, come to Church this Sunday where my intent is to expound upon these words in my sermon.

La Republica Day 1

Posted on Apr 28, 2009

Our first full day is in the books and I emphasize full.  Yesterday afternoon we arrived in Santo Domingo around 2pm then traveled to San Pedro where we had our preliminary meetings.  After a nights rest we ate breakfast and started on a tour of schools, medical clinics, and Churches that did not end until 4pm.  We then checked into our hotel in Santo Domingo and stayed just long enough to clean-up for Dinner with the Bishop of the Dominican Republic.  It is now 10pm and we just got back to our rooms.

Although the day was very busy it was great to see the energy and enthusiasm of the ministry taking place here.  Visiting the schools were especially my favorite where the children were very receptive of our group.

I will try and post more tomorrow but I am just too tired tonight.

Going back to the Dominican Republic
