Leaving on a Jet Plane

Posted on Feb 27, 2009

I am currently sitting in my office putting together a morning and evening devotion that we will use each of our days on our trip so I decided to test my first blog entry.  In a few hours our group will carpool to Raleigh where we will check into our hotel for Friday night.  Our plane leaves early tomorrow morning.  In Raleigh we will meet and greet our fellow missionaries from St. James and settle in for our last nights rest in the U.S.  While in the Dominican Republic internet connection will be hit and miss so I am not sure how often I will be able to blog but I will try my best.  I also hope to upload pictures but that will all depend on the equipment available on the Island of Hispanola.

O gracious and loving God, you work everywhere reconciling, loving, and healing your people and your creation. In your Son and through the power of your Holy Spirit, you invite each of us to join you in your work. We, young and old, lay and ordained, ask you to form us more and more in your image and likeness, through our prayer and worship of you and through the study of your scripture, that our eyes will be fully opened to your mission in the world. We especially pray for Susan, David, Jim, Margaret, Susan, Missy, Bill, and Frances as well as the group from St. James as they take risks to give life and hope to the people of the Dominican Republic.  May they be a helping hand for those in need and an extension of Love from our family here at St. Andrew’s On-the-Sound and at St. James. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Welcome!

Whom am I? Well I am an Episcopal Priest serving as curate at St. Andrew's On-the-Sound (SAOTS). My focus in ministry at SAOTS is working with youth and young families to go along with sharing the workload of preaching, celebrating, and visiting the sick in our Parish. My hopes and dreams for this blog site is for it to be another channel of communication between myself and the Parish family of SAOTS.
